Dear Colleagues, It is a great pleasure to invite you to the ECTS 2021, the 48th annual meeting of the European Calcified Tissue Society. ECTS 2021 will be held as a virtual meeting and as we are transitioning the scientific programme into the virtual format, please mark the congress dates in your calendar: 6-8 May 2021

ECTS serves as a forum for researchers and clinicians working in the musculoskeletal field to discover and discuss the latest advances and controversies in research and in the daily care of patients. Also new this year, the meeting will include relevant hot clinical sessions to help managing patients going along the newest knowledge in the field.

The year 2020 gave us the challenge but unique opportunity of holding our first ECTS Digital Congress.  We continued with our mission to provide with a forum for researchers and clinicians working in the musculoskeletal field,  to discuss the latest advances and controversies in research and in the daily care of patients.  We brought to the comfort of your office 3 months of education and science.

As we are hearing your experience and your needs, we are fine-tuning our congress all the way, to make #ECTS2021 even better than before. At #ECTS2021, we’ll have the chance to meet again in a digital format to engage in networking and exchanges. More than ever, #ECTS2021 will be the place where scientific research and clinical practice meet!

ECTS 2021 will focus on the best and latest science with renowned leaders in our field.  We have implemented more opportunities for discussions and beside our traditional symposia and workshops, there will also be debates, expert discussions and interactive sessions.

The educational aspects of ECTS 2021 will include pre-meeting courses, working group meetings and workshops. As in previous years, ECTS 2021 will include a New Investigator programme fully organised by our young leaders, the ECTS Academy.

This programme will give the opportunity to new investigators to network, share common interests, receiving mentoring advices and start building their own collaborative projects at an international level. Collaboration will also be highlighted in several joint sessions with international bone societies: ASBMR, our partners from China, Japan and Korea and new partners from Europe and beyond.

The abstract submission is open since 20 October 2020 until 11 January 2021.  The ECTS Congress is recognised a successful scientific meeting thanks to the large number of contributions coming via abstract submissions. We are committed to offer large visibility to promising abstracts by including them in plenary oral sessions, poster orals, SNAPs, and via dedicated poster viewing sessions.  We therefore strongly encourage you to take note of the abstract submission deadline and to send your abstracts in due time.

Whether you are a young investigator, clinician, basic scientist, nurse or allied health professional, industry representative, you will be exposed to the latest topics in our field. Take part in this exciting meeting and stay tuned for more information coming soon.

No matter where you are in the world, don’t miss the opportunity to attend and present during #ECTS2021.

Anna Teti, SPC Chair.
